Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss Review

Image from www.revlon.com

Claims:

Silky...Sexy...Brilliant. Glossy formula combines sheer color and intense moisture with light-reflecting spheres to create amazing shine. SPF 15

Directions:
Apply directly to lips for a sheer, high-shine look or over Revlon Super Lustrous™ Lipstick for a more intense lip look.

I expected this lip gloss to be sheer but surprisingly it isn't.  It gives you nice colour that isn't too sheer or opaque.  It has great shine and isn't too glittery.  This lip gloss has great lasting power, 4-5 hours.  Wear it under lipstick and have colour last all day, 9-10 hours.

Bottom Line: A drugstore lip gloss can't get any better. It also has SPF 15! Rating A+

Great Lash® Washable Mascara Review

Image from www.maybelline.com

Claims:
The mascara that conditions as it thickens.
  • Lash-doubling formula glides on smooth to build great-looking lashes
  • Lash building brush makes it easy to get a full lash look without clumps or globs
  • Contact lens safe and hypoallergenic
  • Washable; also available in waterproof formula and with curved brush
Directions:
Apply from your outer lash to your inner lash, sweeping brush slowly from root to tip. Do not let dry between coats. Removes easily with Maybelline Expert Eyes Eye Makeup Remover Towelettes or Expert Eyes 100% Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover.

smudge contact safe.

This mascara glides on smooth giving you great natural looking lashes.  This mascara doesn't lengthen your lashes greatly. It is very build-able with no drying so you can put layers on top of layers.  You can achieve a slightly dramatic look without any clumps or globs.  This mascara is more volumizing than the The Colossal Volum' Express® Mascara.

It is not washable.  It takes about 5 minutes to wash this mascara off thoroughly.  It is not smudge proof.  Throughout the day you might notice smudges around your eyes.  I think this is due to it non drying formula that lets you build layers.

Bottom Line: This gives you natural looking lashes but doesn't make a dramatic difference. I give this mascara C+.

The Colossal Volum' Express® Mascara Review

Image from www.maybelline.com

The Claims:
Creates 9X the volume, instantly.

  • Patented MegaBrush + Collagen Formula plump lashes one by one
  • Dramatic Volume with no clumps
  • Washable
Directions:
Sweep brush upwards from root to tip to plump individual lashes and achieve dramatic volume. Continue building lashes until you reach your desired look. Do not let dry between coats. Repeat for lower lash line. Removes easily with soap and water or Maybelline® New York Expert Eyes® Eye Makeup Remover Towelettes

I was expecting great volume as I have sparse lashes. This mascara did not deliver. It claims to instantly bring 9x the volume but for me its 2x volume. I have long lashes and did not want any lengthening effects.  This mascara did just that it increased the length of my lashes dramatically, making it almost touch my eyebrows.  If you are looking for a lengthening mascara and not a 'volumizing' one this mascara is GREAT!

I did like that it was easily washable like it claims.  Great Lash® Washable Mascara by Maybelline is much messier and harder to take off.  Colossal is so easy to take off.  There is no other mascara that washes off like this one.  It creates no clumps like it claims so that's another plus. It does dry quickly so you have to coat lashes quickly to get a dramatic look.

Bottom Line: I give this mascara a B-. I love it but it does not do what it claims to do!

Make Up For Ever MUFE Full Cover Concealer

                                                        image from Sephora.com

I heard about this concealer through a beauty blog, The Fancy Face. I then youtubed, and googled it where I read many many great reviews.  Now of course I had to try it for myself.  So off I went into Sephora to try it.  I have bad genetic dark under eye circles that doesn't seem to be covered with just foundation or drug store concealers.  My foray into makeup is fairly recent so bare with me for my lack of knowledge.

I am amazed when I tried it on. It actually covered my dark circles.  I wouldn't say 100% but about 90%.  I could never conceal my dark circles even 10% before.  I tried it in shade 12, then applied the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation.  It looked amazing and my skin was flawless.  My friend who hates wearing makeup even complimented my skin and asked how I achieved it. I finally discovered a concealer that works, or so I thought.  The lady at Sephora gave me a sample and I took it home to experiment.  I wore it under my mac foundation and the results were even better, I got 100% coverage. I have always heard from youtube gurus that concealer is better when put on top of foundation, especially for under eye circles.  I tried that with my Maybelline foundation and the results weren't quite the same.  I'm not sure if it was the foundation ( I doubt it) or the fact that I wore the concealer on top.  The concealer now looked too light for my skin tone and wouldn't spread as easily under my eyes.

Thus this concealer works best when put on moisturized skin before foundation.  It is very smooth, blend-able, creamy.  You do have to be careful though since it drys very quickly thus losing the blending capacity.  It creases a bit after 6 hours but so did every other concealer I used, the creasing wasn't too noticeable on my skin. It is best to use concealers that come in a tube for under eye circles as they have the perfect consistency.  Pot concealers are too thick and creamy, liquid concealers with wands like many drug store brands are too liquidy to give proper coverage for dark circles.  It is important that concealers aren't too creamy so that later on the day it doesn't melt.  The last thing you want is a messy under eye area.  Since the mufe concealer drys very quickly I am assured that my dark circles won't be a mess by the end of the day.  You don't even have to set the concealer, depending on your skin type.  I don't have to most days, but if I am wearing full face makeup I do set everything.

The shade I got may be tad too light but since it works under my foundation I don't mind.  I had a $15 coupon from Sephora for being a beauty insider.[woohoo!] and wanted to buy what I knew would work.  I didn't want to risk buying the darker shade as I didn't have time to try it on.  It was the last day to use the coupon and my sister was in a rush so I grabbed the 12.  Next time I'll be sure to try the 14 and see how it compares, maybe it will give me better coverage.  I'm sure that's going to be a long time from now as this tiny tube is going to last a long time since you only need a tiny dot each usage.

The price is HIGH! $34 for .5oz tube.  However it is the best coverage I ever got from a concealer and you use so little that it will last you a long time.  Always try products on before buying as it might not work on your skin.  It did not work for my sister, it made her under eye circles look ashy. Maybe she did not try on the correct shade, don't know.

If you have tried a concealer with a better coverage let me know please!

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation Review

                                Image from NARScosmetics.com

I recently purchased the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation.  I have read and watched so many raves/reviews on it that I had to immediately try it.  I went into Sephora and tried it in the shade Cadiz (Mac NC45).  I have oily skin and was afraid that the 'glow' part of the foundation wouldn't work for me.  I always get very oily when I wear makeup.  I have combination skin that is on the oily side especially in the T-Zone area.  When I tried this foundation on it actually made my skin dry. I was surprised since it was supposed to be a 'glowing' foundation. I use a very matte moisturizer, I guess it is too drying when used with the foundation.  It is winter thus my skin is drier than usual.  I was actually excited because all other foundations make me oily after an hour.  After 6 hours my skin did get more oily or 'glowy?' but it was not to the extent where I was disgusted with my skin.

The coverage is light to medium.  I would say it is just in between light and medium coverage.  You can definitely build up the coverage with another layer and it won't feel cakey.  The main thing I love about it is that it feels like you are wearing no makeup. I do have the Mac liquid foundation and would say that the coverage is similar, even though the feel of both foundation on my face is totally different.

Price:
This thing is expensive! I never buy high-end makeup, I only have two or three other products that I received as gifts.  In Canada the foundation is $55.  The US dollar and the Canadian dollar is pretty much equal now so it made me mad that I didn't live in the States where the foundation is $42.  I recently signed up for Sephora beauty insider and as luck would have it, they were having a Christmas sale.  They sent me a email with a $15 gift card! It was meant to be, so I rushed over to the nearest Sephora and bought it!  My friend also got the gift card and she wasn't using it so I bought the MUFE full cover concealer.  These beauty blogs/Youtube gurus are going to kill my bank account I tell ya. Well I do have to take my grad pictures in a few weeks so it's all justified.

Packaging:
I don't really care for the packing of any makeup products as long as its not too ugly. It doesn't include a pump. You would think that for a high end foundation they would include that.  They do sell a separate one for $7.00?

This foundation also had other benefits, it is actually is supposed to help your skin.

It:
  • Brightens and clarifies overall skin tone
  • Minimizes visible discoloration
  • Improves skin luminosity and radiance
  • Hydrates for softer and smoother skin
  • Dermatologist tested. Non-comedogenic. Fragrance free
No wonder it was so expensive. I will continue to use it and update you if my opinion changes. Right now I just love it and I recommend everyone to TRY it.

If you have any questions feel free to ASK.
